About me

Linda Chan is a Hong Kong born pianist. Her musical journey began with a toy wooden piano given to her from her father when she was five. In 2002, she won the first prize in Liu Shih Kun Piano Competition Advanced Group. During her studies in the University of Hong Kong, she was included in the Dean's Honour List and was awarded the German Consulate Book Prize and Lufthansa Scholarship.

After graduation, she carried on her studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. At the same time, she became a full time piano tutor at the then renowned Liu Shih Kun Piano and Arts Centre. Her students were aged between three and fifty. They won various prizes in competitions and achieved good results in exams held by the ABRSM. She held student recitals regularly in the Hong Kong City Hall.

In 2013, she decided to leave her teaching practice in Hong Kong and moved to the United Kingdom to study piano performance. She received  a scholarship from the Birmingham Conservatoire and studied under the tutelage of John Humphreys, John Thwaites and Mark Bebbington. During those two years at the Conservatoire, she was given many internal and external performance opportunities. She has performed in venues such as Birmingham Town Hall, Birmingham Cathedral, Birmingham and Midland Institute, St Michael in Oxford, the Gateway Arts Centre in Shrewsbury etc. Apart from this, she worked for the Conservatoire as an International Student Mentor and Student Assistant To The Head Of The Keyboard Department. She graduated in 2015 with distinction and was awarded the MMus Course Prize.

She then received a scholarship from the Royal Northern College of Music to study piano performance with Frank Wibaut. She graduated in 2016.

She is now working as a freelance musician Sydney. She performs regularly and gives piano lessons and chamber music coaching. She lives in Blacktown with her husband Titus.
